to be

 

Kings & Priests

 

 

Jesus Christ “has made us kings and priests to His God and Father”

Rev 1:6

 

“And has made us to be kings and priests to our God and we shall reign on the earth” Rev.5:10

 

We are called a

Royal Priesthood

 

“But you are a royal priesthood a holy nation,

His own special people..”  1Pet.2:9

 

Jesus is both

KING & HIGH PRIEST

 

He was declared to be

“A priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek”  Heb..5:6

 

Who is ‘Melchizedek?

Melchizedek represents a new order of priesthood combining the offices of KING & PRIEST

 

“For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the Most High God …” Heb.7:1

 

His name means ‘king of righteousness’ & ‘king of peace’ (Heb.7:2)

 

This Melchizedek can

only be JESUS!

 

Jesus is the KING

 

“Yet I have set My King on My holy hill of Zion” Ps.2:6

 

Jesus is the SON who has received the inheritance

 

“I will declare the decree, the LORD has said to Me, You are my Son. Today I have begotten you. Ask of Me, and I will give You the nations for your inheritance” Ps.2:7-8

 

Jesus is the one who is to

RULE the nations

 

“Rule in the midst of your enemies” Ps. 110:2

“Kiss the Son, lest He be angry and you perish in the way” Ps.2:12a

 

Jesus is the one who has been declared “a PRIEST forever” Ps.110:4

Under the Law Covenant, the offices of king & priest were strictly separated, but Zechariah prophesied the change

that was to come:

“Take the silver and gold, make an elaborate crown, and set it on the head of Joshua … the high priest” Zech. 6:11

 

A priest is being

crowned as a king!

 

This priest is to build the temple of the Lord, an apostolic work, and bear the glory.

 

Jesus the King/Priest is the one who is building the house of God

 

“Yes He shall build the temple of the LORD. He shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule on His throne; so He shall be a priest on His throne” Zech.6:13

 

Kings …              

Rule & reign 

Sit on a throne

Judge

Give pardon

Go to war

Bear the glory

Administer a Kingdom

 

Priests …

Minister to God

Stand at the altar

Intercede

Offer sacrifices

Pronounce blessings

Walk in holiness

Serve in a temple/church

 

As priests we minister to God in praise, worship, prayer and intercession; we minister to people by teaching the word and ministering the gospel of salvation

 

As kings we walk in our inheritance as sons to the Father, exercising dominion, ruling and reigning with Him on the earth, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God

The order of priesthood that every baptised believer belongs to is the order of Melchizedek

 

In Jesus Christ the order of Melchizedek has been fully established and now the

saints are entering into

their inheritance to rule

and reign as kings!

 

We have been made to be kings & priests!

 

We are to

reign on the earth!

 

 

“Your kingdom come,

Your will be done on earth

as it is in heaven!”
