"And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the nations by faith, preached the gospel beforehand unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all the nations be blessed."

(Gal. 3:8)

Tanzania

Paul Galligan and team visited Dar Es Salaam in 2001 and 2002. Since then further contacts have been made with leaders in Arusha, near Kilimanjaro. Apostles from Kenya have visited Tanzania teaching in seminars. Paul intends to return to Dar Es Salaam in 2007.

Dear Brethren,

This report is quite amazing in that Peter Wekesa, an apostle that Jesus is raising in East Africa, led 60 missioners from West Kenya into Tanzania and the story he writes speaks for itself. The testimony of ‘receiving their daily bread’ and ‘the word being confirmed with signs and wonders’ is truly amazing. Good on you Peter and brethren! You are breaking new ground in apostolic mission in Africa. Paul Galligan.

Dear Dad Paul and apostolic company,
This is one of the most exciting reports I have ever send. It is has been a rich experience in my ministry life to be part of what God is doing now. After a powerful overnight prayers at our municipal stadium that brought together over 2000 saints from over 50 different churches in town on the 8/8/2008; and having prayed that Kenya realizes her apostolic calling I left with a team of 60 missioners from my church and three other churches for a 10 days mission in Mwanza Tanzania.

We had been praying for this mission since March this year and it was a dream coming to be true. The overnight stadium prayers also took a lot of my input being one of the two pioneers of the vision. My church and that of Julius Mbagaya the Baptist moderator Kenya were the only churches that financed the overnight prayer meeting which took us US$ 2700 in hiring facilities, publicity and general planning. Because it sounded like a strange idea many pastors in town didn't believe it would work and therefore were afraid of investing in it. God helped us to do this on 8th and be ready to leave for Tanzania on 16th.

Bishop Mike Brown from Nakuru four hours from Kitale was our main speaker during the prayer night and he is the same person who had offered me his bus cheaply to use for Tanzania mission at only US $ 920 for two weeks, minus fuel. Commercial buses would have costed us 4 times more. He also preached in my church the Sunday of 9th and together we prayed and commissioned those who were going to Tanzania. He left Kitale on Monday to go and release the bus which was to reach us Wednesday evening. When this bus was on its way to us, it was hijacked but God is great for it was later on found on Thursday though damaged. Because we had been paying for it since the month of March, by the time it was coming we had paid up to US $620, the bishop tried all he can to fix it for us but was unable. On Friday 15th, the day were leaving it was apparent that we would not use it, Mike tried all efforts to get us another bus but was unable. We just had to make this trip so I talked to Bishop Julius Mbagaya who came in to save the situation by giving us his bus, we would not get immediate refunds from Bishop Mike since we had been paying him on piecemeal from march and also all he had, had been put in trying to repair his bus believing it would be ready in time for us.

Bishop Julius' bus on the other hand needed insurance; servicing plus some minor fixing that would cost us US$579. At that time all we had in hand from individual contributions of those who were traveling was US $ 765 which was to carter for fuel and our food while in Tanzania. Having no option we decided to use $579 of these on Bishop Julius' bus and believe God for fuel and food from the remaining $186. We also called the other team members from other three churches informing them of the situation and asked them to try all they can to get more money. We were picking them one hour from kitale so we fueled the bus with $150 and left for Tanzania. Because the notice to the other team was so short, we picked our them with only $100 to add on for fuel. This was 11 pm at night. Being big bus its fuel consumption was high than we expected. At exactly 7am we were at the Kenya Tanzania border ready to cross. From the border to Mwanza town is 422 miles, the driver told us that we were only remaining with fuel that would take us halfway in to Tanzania. And we started clearing the bus we thought it would take like $40 only but learning from the offices concerned we realized we needed $150 to cross with the bus for both taxes in two countries and jumbo insurance.

I asked every one to call back home and see if we would get some money even if it would be refunded later. Our joined effort through God's help yielded $330 of this $200 was as loan to be refunded later. Thus we managed to get $150 for clearing and $70 for fuel. We left the border at 11am and on our arrival at 6pm we were remaining with $146 to start the mission with.

Our hosts gave us dinner that evening and breakfast the following morning which was Sunday 17th, after which we were to carter for every meal for 60 people as were had earlier agreed. Monday was our resting day and familiarizing with the city therefore we fueled the bus with $46 to take us to town centre where we would communicate to friends through mail about our situation. This left us with $100 enough only for that days lunch and dinner and breakfast the following day, having minimized our food and taking the cheapest and lowest quantity one can ever eat.

With the 60 missioners, were 17 kids from age 1 to 9 years, whose parents traveled with including my three kids. Tuesday was a tough day indeed. Our host had no plan at all for our meals since were had agreed earlier that he would help give us accommodation as we help feed ourselves. We therefore asked him to help give our kids lunch as we who are elders get on a compulsory fasting. During service time and especially crusade time God helped us sell music tapes that Anne and the church choir has recorded and from that evening sells we got dinner for that night and breakfast for the following morning.

I had written to friends about our situation so I went on checking every morning if there was any help, money in the bank, a mail from any who had been touched, to respond. With all mails calls and sms only one response was positive with action to give us immediate help though the help never reached till Saturday, we also received another promise to hope in the course of the week for some kind of help though it didnt come in time we really appreciate everyones encouragements and prayers.

Come Wednesday and still there was nothing forthcoming so we had to ask everybody who had his or her personal money to loan us if he can't give to God's work as a freewill offering. And we also set a timetable for prayer and fasting five people rotationally missing a meal while praying for financial breakthrough as well as great outpour of God's power.

We limited our eating just to what can give us strength to continue. God helped us greatly from the sells of tapes we had a meal every meal time.

Mwanza Tanzania has not been having rains since last year and therefore experiencing food scarcity and price hiking. Our hosts tried the much they can to come in and help us which they did the last two days.

While all these was happening, God was manifesting His glory in a mighty way, every early morning we started with our own class at pastors compound. We prayed together and anointed those going out for house to house evangelism. This yielded great fruit with 87 people giving their lives to Christ among them 36 Muslims. 52 of these were baptized and turned to church on Sunday.

Great healings and deliverances took place in the house to house mission. A team of teachers were at the church structure discipling these new believers every morning of the day that followed while I dealt with leaders in a different venue. In the evening we all came for the crusade where God did marvelous things.

People were giving their lives to Christ in tens and hundreds every day. After salvation we prayed for the sick and needy and there were violent and dangerous demonic manifestations everywhere on the ground. Demons seized many getting them in trance and using their months to utter words like they did during Jesus time.

Among these were great deliverances like of a woman called Rose. She is a beautiful young lady who dropped out of school at form two. She says she was in a company of four other girl friends and seeing that she was more favored than them all one of them sought a witch who caste a spell on Rose, marrying her to a demon. She become sick got confused and dropped out of school. She had a fiancé who tried very much to marry her even after this but he wouldn't though they got a child out of wedlock. From the day the child was born the father can not touch the kid. Whenever he touches her (kid) she collapses looses consciousness and remains like that for a whole day or two, after which the kid gets terribly sick. This made it impossible for them to marry. She was delivered of very violent demons. Before her deliverance Rose was suffering demonic attacks three times every day and ones at night. 10 from my team were accommodated at Rose's parents house where she stays among them two pastors and all witnessed this night seizers, which were starting by a Rose's phone ringing and when she picks it, it hangs and the attack starts. Demons talking through her; wakes up every body kicking and slapping them all house doors swing open with no human touching them and they say through Rose's mouth that they have come. They claimed Rose as their wife who will never marry a human being. She was delivered out of a violent demonic manifestation and those manifestations ceased bringing great calm and relief to her and her parents. See the pictures.

A 17 year old girl called Elizabeth, had never seen her monthly periods, instead her waist had been in pain since age of 12. Demons seized her making her roll like a snake, after casting them out she started her periods there on the crusade ground.

A testimony on what God was doing spread a cross and a family of old Jepher 71 years who had not walked for two months send for me to go home and pray for him. I did that the first thing the following morning and found him in great pain unable to sit upright leave alone standing. As I prayed he began to shake violently and vomited dark vomit after which he become calm though sweating all over. He was carried outside and made to rest getting fresh air. I left him fallen asleep and the evening of the same Day, Jepher walked the two miles by himself to the crusade ground. See pictures.

There was a great number of deaf and dump people. One of them called Benja was able to hear and speak shouting and running all over from excitement of hearing and learning to speak.

There were so many cases of paralyzed kids, many who couldn't walk, talk or even eat at the age of between 7 and 10.

Sorcerers also tried every effort to fight our mission. Every morning we would find some frightening things thrown on the crusade ground, human skulls and parts of strange animals some even fresh under the platform etc. There is a lot of witch craft being practiced in Tanzania than one can imagine including human sacrifices which are so many. It was just the other month when the government was forced to give all albinos security, since sorcerers were asking every one who went to them for help to bring some body parts of albinos to be used for in the sorcery for their success. This meant kidnapping albinos.  After the government safeguarded albinos things turned to small girls. They kill and skin small girls and use their body parts for sorcery business. The village where we were had lost seven small girls in few past months.

Our host didn't tell us this and therefore on Friday evening when I had finished preaching and now was ministering to the sick, my wife was singing worship and our kids were playing on the crusade ground, when it was getting dark they started getting into the bus which was on the far end of the field. My daughter called Joy 6 years and my little boy 3 and half years were the last to get where the bus was. As they were approaching the bus there was great and violence demonic manifestations at the platform, screams of those thrown down by demons, everybody concentrated there and sorcerers kidnapped my girl. She screamed but they covered her mouth and started going with her, they frightened her into silence and held her hand to walk a way with her without causing suspicion. My small boy in seeing that cried and followed his sister. So they took him also.

But God is great, when I was coming to the end of my preaching that evening, two women from my team decided to buy me a soda so they went looking for a cold one. They wouldn't get one in a near by shop, so they kept going further since I had just started ministering to the sick so they had no hurry. They got one like six hundred meters from the crusade ground and turned back. One of them was in choir uniform having just finished performing before I started preaching. So like four hundred meters from the crusade the sorcerers saw these ladies and there was no place to turn to. They were definitely going to meet. They removed a shoe from their bag and gave it to my girl; they threatened her that they would bit her unless she tells the ladies that her mum has given her that shoe to take to the shoe repair and those with her are showing her the shoe repair. She said exactly that and the boy was like also confused and kept quiet. On hearing this the ladies were like no problem just go. So they let them go but as they left the sorcerers increased speed and the boy called one of the ladies by name, this is when the ladies thought twice and wondered how mama can be singing and sending a small kid at the same time. And why the little Joy when big girls are in the team. When they turned they saw the sorcerers starting to run now carrying the kids, there is when the ladies screamed and because the whole village is in tension this forced the sorcerers to drop the kids and run for their lives. Thus God saved my two kids from the wicked one.

Sunday afternoon some family members were moving from church to church, a mother with her five year old daughter were leaving for home at 9 am after their catholic early morning mass when the girl disappeared mysteriously. The same Sunday evening on the crusade another family was also looking for their six year old girl who disappeared mysteriously. When I called my host this morning he says the kids have not been found till now. Truly Jesus fought for us.

We left Tanzania at 5am Monday 25th. Fuel is very expensive there, we get fuel at $1.6 per unit (liter) in Kenya the same goes at $2.3 in Tanzania. During our goiing we traveled half way into Tanzania using fuel bought in Kenya but now we had to do the whole way with fuel bought in Tanzania. Also we had to add oil and fix a few things before leaving. All we had on us was $300 from this one great ministry great people and friends of ours whose mission is helping indigenous servants. We had to use $50 for oil and repair of side mirror and a few touches before using the remaining $250 on fuel. Now Mwanza is on the sea level. It is on banks of Lake Victoria, Kitale is on slopes of mount Elgon the second highest mountain in Kenya. Going was down slope but coming is up hill. Our bus was doing only on low gears and that means more fuel consumption. The fuel we had only did 300 miles after which we got stack. This happened near a market place on a hill, so we took out the gifts they had given us, they had given us some cloth materials, some rice and also asked those who had bought themselves anything we would sell and we sold all those at that market, got some money enough to buy us 20 liters of fuel. Because of going up hill using the bus tank was causing us a problem since fuel goes far back the tank and therefore unable to be sucked. We therefore siphoned what was in the tank and removed the sucking pipes from the tank to the jerrycans which we put at the co-drivers place. After solving the fuel problem the bus developed a starter problem. it took one hour for the co-driver who is a mechanic to repair it and with this wisdom we managed to cross the border at exactly 4pm.

There was a sigh of relief, finally we are home, and we can sleep anywhere. There was no charges back so we didn't spend any money at the border. One of the pastors on the team had preached to a town near the border so he called the bishop who gave us fuel worth $50. Being on Kenya side this took us a bit far but not as far as Kisumu town which is 4 hours from Kitale. We were stack again half an hour away From Kisumu town and had one pastor get on a different bus up to Kisumu town  it was coming to 8pm when he left to see a pastor he knows there to assist us with fuel. We managed to get $100 for fuel but after three hours search, this helped us get home at 5 am Tuesday morning.

Thanks a lot for praying with us. Thanks a lot for supporting us. God bless you mightily. Attached are a few pictures showing some of the things explained.

Welcome again to pray with us, I am making two other trips back to Tanzania before the year ends. The first will be at the beginning of Octomber to Darsalam the capital city, I will be with 10 on my team, a bishop there attended the burial of pastor Dawson's father and heard my wife Anne sing and I preaching and decided to invite us for a city wide meeting. We may not be able to go many of us though she requested the singing team of my wife and a teaching team. 10 of us may be enough to go do that. At the end of the same month I will be going back to Mwanza, for a leaders' seminar. The moderator has decided to bring leaders from all 37 churches under his region to this seminar.

Pray that God provides funds for these two missions. Anne is from tomorrow ministering to three hundred women at the place where we had our crusade the other time, one hour from Kitale.

We are again planning another overnight prayer meeting at the stadium with Bishop Julius, saints are demanding form it, it will be on 12/12/2008. this needs resources, the stadium is open so we hire tents for such function as we didn't last time, we hired 6 tents and all this is resources. Pray that God will help us.

Thank you for being such a great friend of God and His purposes.

Thank you for being my friend.

Love Peter Wekesa
