AN APOSTOLIC MINISTRY TO THE NATIONS |
|
Þ “He said to them, ‘But who do you say that I am?’ Simon Peter answered and said, ‘You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.’ Jesus answered and said to him, ‘Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.’” Matthew 16:15-18
Jesus Christ is the only foundation to build upon Þ “For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.”
Jesus is Lord and Christ Þ “Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.” Acts2:36
The name of Jesus declares Him to be the Saviour. He can save you from your sins
Þ “And she shall bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins.” Matthew 1:21
Jesus is God with us Þ “Behold the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,’ which is translated, ‘God with us.” Matthew 1:23
He is the promised King whose kingdom will never end Þ “He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.” Luke 1:32-33
Jesus came into the world supernaturally Þ “And the angel answered and said to her, ‘The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born to you will be called the Son of God.” Luke 1:35
Jesus is God in the flesh Þ “And without controversy great is the mystery of Godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, Justified in the Spirit, Seen by angels, Preached among the Gentiles, Believed on in the world, Received up in glory.” 1Timothy 3:16
He is God becoming a man
Þ “…Christ Jesus, who being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross."Philippians 2:5-8
He has universal authority in His name
"Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
He is the Creator, Sustainer and Source of all things. He is to have first place in everything
Þ “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the pre-eminence. For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.”
He is the fullness of God dwelling bodily Þ “For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily and we are complete in Him who is the head of all principality and power."
He is the full expression of God Þ “God…has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.”
He is God’s declaration of Himself - God dwelling in flesh
Þ “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men…And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth…No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.”
He is our great God and Saviour Þ “looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ.” Titus 2:13
A Prophecy about the coming of Jesus Þ “For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. And of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end, upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, to order it and establish it with judgment and justice from that time forward, even forever.” Isaiah 9:6-7
Jesus is the eternal God Þ “Jesus said to them, ‘Most assuredly I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.’” John 8:58
Þ “But to the Son He says: “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever” Hebrews 1:8
He and the Father are One Þ “I and My Father are one.” John 10:30
The resurrection of Jesus from the dead proves He is the Son of God
Þ “Concerning His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who was born of the seed of David according to the flesh, and declared the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness and the resurrection from the dead.” Romans 1:3-4
We are to not stop preaching and teaching Jesus as the Christ Þ “And daily in the temple, and in every house, they did not cease teaching and preaching Jesus the Christ.” Acts 5:42
